Eco-Filtration
is a system that efficiently, effectively and economically removes separated particles and dissolved solids from a large range of fluids. Known separation of impurities from fluids include water, oil well completion fluids, slop oil, used motor oil, acids and caustics. An extraordinary breakthrough system easily scaleable to process 500+ barrels a day or can be specifically designed to meet strict on-site demands. This system has been tested and has successfully removed 100% of basic sediment, sulfur and water from crude oil; a substantial decrease in overall refinery cost!
Executive Summary
Eco-Filtration is a superior innovative filter of thin flat sheet metal, ceramic two layer, stainless steel or titanium single layer filters (spargers) which operate in the ultra and micro filtration regions. Unlike most ceramics, these filtration membranes are not brittle and have a high mechanical strength. The membranes are about 250 microns thick with ceramic layer about 15 microns thick.
Science Discussion
Operating Environment/Capabilities: The eco-filtration membranes have high mechanical strength, long lifetime, high porosity and superior flow rates. The membranes can operate in temperatures up to 300ºC in air and up to 800ºC in an inert or reducing atmosphere. These eco-filtration membranes have been used in the following areas:
- Beverage clarification or sterilization
- Pharmaceutical and bio-technological manufacturing
- Oil or water emulsion separations
- Industrial waste water processing or purification
- Cleanup of radioactive liquid waste solutions
- Drinking water purification (removal of particles/bacteria)
Advantages
- High capability for REGENERATION. Can be regenerated within the system without disassembly by:
- Back flushing
- Steam
- Mechanical cleaning
- Electric- chemical cleaning
- Durability in "real" operating media
- From pH 1 to pH 14
- High temperature (up to 300ºC in air, up to 800ºC in inert or reducing atmosphere)
- Better resistance to abrasion and radioactivity
- Membrane surface charge can be modified to enhance flux rates
- Membrane is easy to handle and install
- Welding
- Brazing
- Conventional pressure fitting
- Membrane is easy to form
- Can meet requirements of designed systems
- No need to have expensive "press molds"
- Easily formed into a tube of required diameter and length
